I have a disability but do not receive any disability supports – can I still access the NDIS?
Yes. The NDIS is designed to provide supports to people with disabilities who currently do not have access to supports, as well as those who already receive some support.
What are the costs of NDIS supports?
NDIS supports are funded through a combination of Commonwealth and state/territory government funding. The NDIS will cover the costs of reasonable and necessary supports outlined in your individualised plan. You may also need to make a co-contribution to the cost of some supports.
Who is eligible for Supported Independent Living?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support that can be provided to eligible participants who need assistance with everyday tasks in order to live independently. To qualify for SIL, you must:
A. have a permanent and significant disability that limits your ability to perform everyday activities; and
B. require ongoing support from another person to perform everyday activities; and
C. be aged 16 years or over; and
D. be an Australian citizen or permanent resident; and
E. live in a place where SIL services are available.
